My twitter feed brought me news of the Bassoforte, which is apparently a new bassoon design from Guntram Wolf. He's well known for having introduced the Contraforte a few years ago as a wholly redesigned contrabassoon-like instrument, with dramatic improvements in dynamic range, sound, flexibility, and range. Guessing based on the name alone, one imagines that the Bassoforte promises to do the same for the bassoon. I have no details, though, and no access to the German magazine with the article. Amazing that this can be created like that. Very impressive instrument which certainly would increase the tone and dynamics of the bassoon. I wonder how heavy it is?
