First show
My first public performance in decades is tomorrow night, assuming you don't count an embarrassing outing demoing for preschoolers a few years ago, where I was a full semitone flat 90% of the time. 100% of the time would have been okay, since no one would have been the wiser. But 90% sucks, whether you're behind the horn or in front of it. And yeah, preschoolers can tell. I'm still struggling with being flat, but have been playing enough, sitting in front of a tuner, that I have some hope of blowing the horn nearly into pitch. There's a few runs, too, staccato sixteenths, exposed enough I can't really just ignore them. I'd kind of hoped to postpone technique, and focus on reeds and intonation, but it's hard to do anything if I can't stand to listen to myself play. And that includes smoothness. So I've spent a bit of time, not enough, working on that too.
